U16 AAA Maksymum Stars Send Six Players to All-Star Event
U16 AAA Head Coach Dave Maksymiu has announced six selections to take part in the Eastern Junior Elite Prospects League All-Star Event January 20-21, 2013 in Hookset, New Hampshire.  Selected were defensemen Matthew Buchbinder and Matt Damelio, goalie Monty Cunningham and forwards Ritchie Francis, Chris Peters and Austin Pieniaszek.
 
The event will include two games and a dinner hosting the EJEPL All-Star selections.  College scouts will be in attendance to get an opportunity to see the league’s top players.  Maksymiu was selected to coach in the event.  For the Stars it is another success having the six players selected.  The team is battling for league supremacy in the EJEPL, and Coach Maksymiu commented,” The entire team deserves the credit, I wish I could take the whole bunch.”  Goalie Shane Fuller and defenseman Jake Schultz were named as alternates to the event.

The Stars were formed in a partnership between RYH and Maksymum Hockey to field a full-season U16 team.  The team is 27-15-3 on the season and has qualified for the NYS Championships.    


 
Versage Named to 2012-2013 Empire All-Star Team

Maksymum Junior Hockey Club forward Dylan Versage has been named to the Western Conference All-Star team for the Empire Junior Hockey League All-Star Event.
 
Versage has helped lead Maksymum to second place in the Western Conference, netting 21 goals and 12 assists in 24 games. His 21 goals place him fifth in the league, while he is 13th in the league in total points.
 
The Empire All-Star Event will be held on Sunday January 20th and Monday January 21st in Hooksett, NH.

Maksymum Stars U16 AAA Qualify for NYS Championship

 
The Maksymum Stars U16 AAA team, formed in partnership between Rochester Youth Hockey and Maksymum Hockey played in the NYS Playdowns in Amherst.   The Maksymum Stars coached by Dave Maksymiu and assisted by Jared Blank went 4-1 over the weekend.  In their first game Saturday vs. St. Francis the Stars dominated play and won 11-1.  Maksymum was led by a four goal game from Jimmy Pelton and four point game from Chris Peters.  Liam Flaherty had 3 points to lead the defensemen.  Saturday afternoon Maksymum beat the Depew Saints 3-1.  Pelton, Peters and Austin Pieniaszek scored goals.  Defenseman Matthew Buchbinder added 2 assists and Shane Fuller stopped 21 shots to earn the win.

U16 AAA Maksymum Stars make the Finals in Pittsburgh Viper Stars Midget AAA Shootout

altaltSeptember 28-30 the U16 AAA team, formed in partnership between Rochester Youth Hockey and Maksymum Hockey made their 2nd final tournament appearance of the year in Pittsburgh, PA.   The Maksymum Stars coached by Dave Maksymiu and assisted by Jared Blank went 4-1 over the weekend.  Their first game Friday vs. Wilkes-Barre Scranton American squad started slowly. The Stars were down 2-0 after one period.  They found their legs and outshot WBS 58-23 and secured a 5-3 win.  Maksymum was led by four point performances from Nick Boyd and Jimmy Pelton and a goal from hard hitting defenseman Jake Schultz.

Saturday morning Maksymum beat North Pittsburgh 7-4.  Matt Damelio had 2 goals, Liam Flaherty had 3 points and again the line of Pelton, Boyd, and Chris Peters racked up 6 points leading the forwards.   Saturday night the Stars dominated West Seneca 7-0 with a physical performance from start to finish.  Shane Fuller made 21 saves to earn the shutout.  Joe Saraceni led the way with 2 goals and Austin Guyett added 3 assists.

Sunday, Maksymum continued their physical style and beat Wheatfield 8-0.  Monty Cunningham turned away 22 Blades shots to get the shutout.  Defensemen Matt Buchbinder, Austin 

Guyett, Liam Flaherty, Jared Kachaylo, Kevin O’Brien and Jake Schultz pounded the opposition.  Richie Francis 

 

led the scoring with 2 goals.  Joe Pasko had a highlight goal, Joe Saraceni had 3 assists and Austin Pieniaszek added 2 assists.  Christian Vella continued his strong penalty killing and forechecking.   The win earned a trip to the finals vs. the host Viper Stars.

altIn the Championship game the Stars from Rochester faced adversity with 4 skaters out of the lineup.  Nick Pulli put the Stars up 1-0 in the 2nd period, but Pittsburgh scored 3 PP goals to go up 3-1 after 2.  The Stars never quit with Austin Pieniaszek batting home a Zach Nowak rebound to make it 3-2.  The Viper Stars went on to beat Maksymum 4-2.  Matt Buchbinder assisted on both goals in a losing effort.  The loss did not overshadow a solid weekend with the team improving their play in every game.  The team is 11-7-3 on the season.
